Dear Parents/Guardians,

Tesco Sport Vouchers

We are collecting Tesco Sport Vouchers and would appreciate your support with this. The collection of these vouchers provides much needed playground equipment and PE equipment for our children. We have managed to purchase over the last few years; parachutes, goal posts, balls, hoops, tunnels etc. and can only thank you for your contribution. The box to collect these vouchers is located in the hall.

Lost Property

Please could parents be vigilant in naming all items of clothing brought into school to help us crackdown on children losing them. Teachers are trying to encourage children to hang their clothes up and keep our school tidier. If items are named they can be returned a lot quicker. Thank you for your support.

Harvest Service

The Harvest Service is on Thursday, 27th September at 9.30am at the church. We will be leaving after registration at 9.15am and would welcome any parents who are able to walk with us. In the event of wet weather the service will be held in the school hall. However, we would not be able to accommodate any parents owing to the size of the hall. If there is any doubt about the location of the service a decision will be made at 9.00am and a red sheet of paper put in the office window to indicate that we will not be walking to church.

Harvest for the Hungry

We are again collecting for the charity 'Harvest for the Hungry' in school. We welcome contributions of rice, pasta or plain flour to be given to this good cause. If any parents/guardians can help it is very much appreciated and please feel free to bring any of the above straight into the school hall and placed next to the wall bars to be sorted.
Thanks
Miss Sewell

Confirmation Classes

Church Foundation Governor, Sarah Openshaw, will be running a course to prepare children for confirmation 2nd December by the Bishop of Chelmsford in St Mary's Church. The course will begin on 2nd November at 4.30pm - 5.30pm in the Church Rooms, anyone in Year 5 or above is very welcome to attend. The five sessions will explore what it means to be a Christian in a fun accessible way, which is relevant to the age group. Please contact Sarah on 01376 570381 or e-mail Sarah@openshaw64.freeserve.co.uk for more details or to add your child to the list.

Injuries on the playground

Unfortunately, as I'm sure you are aware small injuries can happen on the playground during lunchtimes. There is an identified first-aid person who deals with any minor injuries on duty on both playgrounds. If the accident is considered to be more serious, the children are then taken to the welfare room for further assessment by a more senior first-aid person. The injury will then be dealt with and the child returned to their playground if appropriate. However, if it is assessed as more serious, a letter will be sent home with the child to explain. Should the injury cause us concern we will telephone straight away. I hope that this will make parents/guardians more aware of how we deal with injuries at lunchtimes. Injuries throughout the school day are dealt with in a similar manner.

Scarecrow Competion

Don't forget the Kelvedon and Feering Scout Group Scarecrow Competition is Saturday, 29th September. Post your entries by Tuesday, 25th September in the box located in the school reception. There is a cash prize for the winning scarecrow.

Yours sincerely
