Dear Parents/Guardians
Spooky Disco
The discos on Friday 12th October are to have a 'spooky theme'. Pupils may dress in appropriate costume if they so wish but no masks are to be worn. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter as last year some of the younger children were extremely distressed by the 'scary' masks and the adults find identification tricky.
Head lice
Could we ask that you are vigilant with regard to Head Lice, checking your child's hair regularly. If you do find that your child does have them please treat accordingly. They should not return to school until their hair has been treated. Thank you.
Photographs
Could you please ensure that you return the reply slip for the School Photographer by Wednesday at the latest to allow us sufficient time to make arrangements for Friday. Thank you.
Consultation Appointments
The boards will be available in the School hall first thing Tuesday morning to enable you to select a time to visit your child's teacher. If you have more than one child please allow a 20 minute gap between your appointments.
Harvest for the Hungry
As we have to contribute towards the cost of transportation of the boxes, any donations would be gratefully received and forwarded to the appeal.
PTFA
PTFA Raises over £20,000!
During the last school year the PTFA raised a fantastic £20,200! We would like to thank children, parents, staff and local businesses for their generosity. Here is a reminder of some of our events and the profits they made: Fireworks Display £3,700; Inflatables Day £2,000, Easter Eggstravaganza £1,700; Children's Events (termly Discos, Pancake Races and Christmas Fayre) £1,800; Adult Events (Retro Disco, Kwiz, Fashion Show and Norwich Shopping) £1,600.
How we spent the money
Last year the PTFA made contributions to the school totalling £8,600. The money was spent on two Art Weeks, a donation towards the Friendship Benches, an Interactive Whiteboard for Reception, Maths and Phonics Resources, Library Books, Staging and Microphones, as well as play equipment, ice pops on Sports Day, and regular coach trips to County Library. The balance, which is busy earning interest, will be put towards our project for this coming year.
So what's next?
Already this term £1,400 has been spent on equipment for Golden Time, and £1,300 on teaching laptops. We have made pledges of £600 to Reception and £2,000 to replace the worn-out wooden houses in the infant playground.
Our fundraising focus this year is the development of the play and sports areas for our junior children. As always, we are counting on your continued support to help us raise the considerable funds needed for this key area.
Kelvedon & Feering Pre-school Shopping Evening
Only 80 days until Christmas! But don't panic - you can start your Christmas shopping early at Kelvedon & Feering Pre-school this Monday evening. There's a shopping evening at the Pre-school from 8-10pm. Entrance is just £1 (proceeds to the Pre-school) and there will be stacks of great bargains to be snapped up. Sellers include Usborne Books, Chocoholics and Virgin Vie, as well as local sellers offering handmade cards, jewellery, photography and portraits. There's even the opportunity for you to take a break from the shopping to have your nails done and enjoy a relaxing hand massage- for just a fiver! So, credit cards at the ready?..
Yours sincerely
