Dear Parents/Guardians
Parent Consultations
Parent consultations will be on Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th October. You can sign up on the boards in the hall before and after school to make an appointment (until Monday 15th October). Please leave a gap of at least 20 minutes between sibling appointments as appointments can occasionally run over.
When you arrive for your appointment, chairs will be set out near your child's classroom. There will be a tray with your child's books to look through whilst you wait. The teacher will then call you in for your appointment. Please be aware that the appointment is only 10 minutes long and we will endeavour to keep to the time allocated. If for any reason, further time is needed to discuss your child, your teacher will rearrange another meeting outside of parents evening.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Parking
Could we please once again remind parents who travel to school by car to be considerate of local residents and more aware of the danger to our children, who presently have to cross between cars parked on the yellow lines. I am sure you agree that the safety of the children is paramount.
Collectors Cards
We would like to remind parents or make our new parents aware, that children should not be bringing collectors cards (eg. Dr Who, Football stickers, Yugioh etc.) to school to swap with friends or to play with. This is due to the fact that this always causes unrest as pupils often regret decisions.
Water Bottles
At St. Mary's we encourage children to drink water frequently as this has proved to help children concentrate for longer. We would like to ask parents to supply their children with water bottles and also ensure they are regularly taken home to be thoroughly washed.
Text Messages
To improve our communication with parents we use a text message service to inform when clubs are cancelled. This service is also used in times of emergency to notify parents of situations occurring (for example if School has to be closed for reasons such as power cuts, bad weather etc.) Please ensure that we have an up to date mobile number to contact you. It is important that you actually collect and read your message as the system notifies us when messages are picked up to enable us to keep track of parents still unaware of the situation. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Sickness Bug
A stomach bug is currently virulent throughout the school. May we request that you do not send your child back to school until 48 hours after the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea to avoid it spreading to other pupils or staff.
Wear it Pink
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and next Friday (19th Oct) we want to support the charity in school by giving the children the opportunity to wear pink in return for a contribution that will be forwarded to the charity. They are asking for £2, but we recognise that some of you have more than one child in school and that of course would be expensive, so any contribution will be gratefully received. We hope to have some fun activities arranged in school to mark the occasion.
Yours sincerely
Mr S Taylor
