Dear Parents/Guardians
Fireworks Display
Don't forget our fireworks display here tomorrow night. Gates open at 6.00pm with the display starting at 7.00pm. If you haven't bought your programmes yet, you may still be able to do so at Bhavani, Olivers, or AT Butchers until tomorrow afternoon (subject to availability) or you can pay on the gate.
As last year, the viewing area for the fireworks will be in the Junior playground ' although the entrance gate will be the Docwra Road one into the Infant playground. There will be a barbeque, and refreshments and novelties will be on sale, as well as a bouncy castle and dodgem cars. You can also win some great prizes in our raffle.
Just a quick word on safety - the school and the PTFA are unable to accept any liability for injuries or damage to personal effects. So to avoid endangering others, can we please ask that no smoking takes place and that no fireworks (including sparklers) are let off in the school grounds.
This event is always a great fund raiser for the school and the team do a great job of putting on an excellent fireworks display, so do come along (and keep fingers crossed for dry weather).
Finally, if you're looking to get some fresh air on Sunday morning, come and join us at 10am to help clear the field ready for Monday. Just turn up and bring a carrier bag with you to put the firework debris in. And bring the children - it's a great way of getting them involved (and there will be some sweet rewards too!). We've had a great turnout the past couple of years and managed to finish the job in just over an hour.
Disability/Equality Scheme
Thank you for the feedback received from various parents/stakeholders regarding the Disability/Equality Scheme. All the comments have now been collated and will go towards the action plan to make sure Kelvedon St. Mary's caters for all learners. Individual parents will be contacted in the future for more liaison in how to improve our school.
The Green Team.
The Green Team Committee has been selected. Congratulations to the following children:
Year 1 Max Shirley Rosie McCann
Year 2 David Shreeve Kayleigh Pennell
Year 3 Harry Parker Jessica Craddock
Year 4 Courtney Henson James Trumper
Year 5 Megan Goodey Ellie Smale
Year 6 Andrew Russell Claire Borgartz
All of the children, who showed an interest joining our Green Team, will be asked to support us in our work on the various projects the Green Team wish to develop. We hope too, that in the future many more children and parents will become involved.
Poppies
Next week the Year 6 pupils will be visiting the classrooms with poppies. If you would like your child to support this appeal please send them in with a donation to put in the collecting tin.
Woolly Hats
Our supplier has offered us a pull on woolly hat bearing the school logo as an addition to our school uniform range. The cost of this item will be £3.50. A sample will be on display in the foyer from today. Please indicate your interest on the list provided.
New Recycling Bin
There is now a clothing recycling container situated on the edge of the rear car park which can be accessed during school hours. If you have any items please place clothes and shoes (tied together in pairs) in separate carrier bags and drop them in. This will raise funds for the school. Thank you.
Parking On the Zig-Zag lines!
Unfortunately it seems that a minority group are continuing to park their cars across the yellow zig-zag lines outside the front entrance. We are asking for parental support in reminding friends and family that parking over these lines is dangerous for all the children who cross the road. We have now contacted the local Community Police Officer about this continuing problem to enable this to be monitored and ensure the safety of the pupils.
Yours sincerely
