Dear Parents/Guardians

The weeks have flown by and half term is now upon us. I have been extremely impressed by how the school has started this year and would like to thank all those involved with this. I wish all the children and their parents a pleasant break and look forward to them returning on Monday 29th October.

Governing Body Changes

At the latest Governing Body meeting Tina Wilson was appointed as Chair of Governors and Graeme Provan as Vice-Chair. The governors would like to express their thanks to Victoria Tsoi for all her hard work during her two periods as Chair.

Head Teacher appointment

An advert for a new head will be placed in next week's Times Educational Supplement. Candidate interviews will take place in late November. This would allow any successful applicant to commence work in the summer term.

In the meantime, Steve Taylor and the senior management team will continue their sterling work in managing the school.

Dinners - Self Registration

As you may be aware your child is responsible for indicating their requirement for lunch, i.e. school lunch, packed lunch or home lunch. It would appear that some children are making the wrong choice, resulting in errors in the Dinner Registers. This unfortunately has financial implications and a letter requesting payment will automatically be sent out at the end of the week. If you do receive a request for payment and wish to query the amount, please contact the office. We would however ask that you impress upon your children the importance of ordering the correct meal.

Amount due until end of term - 38 days at £1.75 per day - £66.50

Thank you for your cooperation.

Milk

We regret that due to two recent price increases, we will unfortunately have to put up the cost of the children's milk. The cost from Monday 29th October will therefore be 14p per day i.e. 70p per week, which we appreciate is a substantial rise. We would be grateful if you could advise us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your child?s milk to enable us to adjust our order accordingly.

Amount due until end of term - 38 days at 14p per day - £5.32
Thank you

Kelvedon St. Mary's Website Wins Award

Kelvedon St. Mary's website has won the 'Essex grid for Learning Website of the Month Award'. We would like to thank Mrs Hopper for all the time and effort that she puts in to regularly updating the site and adding all the new features. We are extremely proud of this and hope that our parents appreciate the availability of information regarding our school. If you would like to see this award mentioned please go to www.e-gfl.org and click on schools in the main menu.

Parents Evening

It was lovely to see so many of you at the parent's evening/consultations. It is extremely important that both the school and parents communicate effectively in providing the best possible education for our children. Please feel free to drop in and speak to class teachers or Mr Taylor if you have any further queries or concerns.
A special thank you for Geraldine and the kitchen staff who supplied refreshments during the evening and discussed with parents their role within the school.

Parking

Please do not park over the yellow school entrance zigzag lines as this obstructs our children crossing the road! We have mentioned this on numerous occasions and this matter needs to be resolved before we have to take further action.

Golden Time Funding from PTFA

We would like once again to thank our PTFA for supporting the purchasing of special Golden Time equipment for all of our children. They kindly agreed to give each class £100 towards new purchases; the children were involved in the selecting process.

Easterford Pre-school

The Committee and Staff at Easterford Pre-school are delighted with their latest Ofsted results. The full report can be found on Ofsted's website. The quality and standards of care and nursery education were strong, with an 'outstanding' result for their ability to help children make a positive contribution.
We congratulate them on their success.

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Thank you so much for your generous contributions - so far today the school has raised £469.50!

Yours sincerely

Mr S Taylor
