Dear Parents/Guardians

PTFA - Best ever Fireworks night
The PTFA Fireworks Committee would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support us on Saturday night. You'll be very pleased to know that you helped make this our best fireworks event ever. Over 1400 people came along to watch a superb fireworks display, and made the most of the food, refreshments and entertainment available. Although we're still doing the final sums, we believe the profit is well over £4000 which is a fantastic result, and will go a long way towards funding extra resources for our children at the school.

We would also especially like to thank all our helpers i.e. the parents, staff and PTFA volunteers who cooked food, manned stalls, supervised the gate, acted as marshals, and counted money. And, of course, massive thanks to the five very brave dads who made up our pyrotechnic team.

Last but not least, thank you to all the mums, dads and children who turned up on Sunday morning to do the important task of clearing the field of all the fireworks debris. Once again the great turn out meant that this was done in little over an hour.

Children In Need 2007 - Do Something Different
Yes it's that time again! In the great Kelvedon St Mary's tradition we are going have a great FUN day for Children in Need. This year we are going to race through time and get through 24 hours in just over 6! Each year group will be coming to school in the middle of the night (no, not really, just pretend!) We will be dressing up according to the themes that are being followed in class i.e.

Foundation/Reception - Autumn - Autumnal colours e.g. brown, yellow, red, orange, green - wearing own clothes in these colours.
Year 1 - The Robinson family - characters from the Oxford Reading Tree books so there will be lots of Biff and Chips
Year 2 - Gruesome and Grisly - wounds, plague victims, etc
Year 3 - Horrid Henry - Perfect Peters, Moody Margarets, etc
Year 4 - Magic and Mayhem - Wizards and Witches
Year 5 - Heroes - Greek or modern
Year 6 - Pop Stars - lots of Beatles, Duran Duran, etc

Geraldine will be entering into the spirit of the day by cooking a full English breakfast (at lunch-time!) and by the time 3.20pm comes we should all be ready for bed again! As a result we are expecting a high uptake for lunch on Friday and we would like your order and payment on Monday to enable us to bank money and inform the kitchen well in advance of numbers, thank you. There will be fund raising activities going on during the day, including the sale of cakes baked by the children, so please give generously to this very worthy cause and tune in to Pudsey radio online at www.bbc.co.uk/Pudsey to get us a mention. Children will be asked to donate 50p for the cause.
Thanking you
Sara Clouting

School Photographs
It would appear that a number of proofs that were recently taken have gone astray. If you have not received your child's proof photograph could you please contact the office by 3.30pm on Monday, 12th November. Arrangements have been made for the photographer to come back into school on Tuesday, 13th November at 1.30pm to re-take any missing photos. It will also be possible to include any children that were absent for his first visit. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Book Fair
The book fair will run in the junior shared area next week and in the main hall after school on Tuesday. Please ensure payments are in cash or a cheque made out to the school. Please remember Reception pupils must be accompanied by a parent for their school time session or can come after school on Tuesday. If you are able to help out Tuesday after school or during Thursday morning, please contact Miss Styles as soon as possible. The school receives commission for every book you purchase, so thank you in advance for your support.

Parking Update
There is going to be a Police presence on various occasions outside the school to ensure that cars are not parked illegally. Additionally to this the Police have contacted Braintree District Council who in turn have instructed their wardens (Community and Traffic) to respond appropriately by handing out fixed penalties.

A football coach is required to help with Year 5/6 Football Training. The training is weekly on Mondays after school from 3.20pm to 4.30pm. Parents, coaches or past pupils are free to enquire.
