Dear Parents/Guardians
Head Teacher Appointment
Following an exhaustive search and interview process, the Governing Body has decided not to appoint a new head teacher at this time.
Having taken this decision, the Governors recognised that the School needs a period of stability in which to continue to build on its “Outstanding” Ofsted rating. There are no plans to re-advertise the post at this time.
We are extremely fortunate to have a strong management team in place already at Kelvedon St Mary’s backed up by an excellent team of staff as has been demonstrated over the last term and a half. Steve Taylor and Wendy Daniels will have the active support of the Governing Body in taking the School forward in the medium term.
New Absence Policy
The Governors have approved a new absence policy in line with current statutory requirements. A copy of the policy will be circulated to parents.
Changes to the Governing Body
John Elliott has come to the end of his term as a Foundation Governor. The Governing Body thanks him for his input during his time as a Governor.
Tina Wilson, our Chair of Governors, has been re-appointed as a Community Governor.
We look forward to welcoming the two new Parent Governors as soon as they are appointed.
Governor Training
Congratulations to Foundation Governors Simon Gibbs and Sarah Openshaw who have passed an intensive two day Foundation course
Photographs
Unfortunately there have been a number of problems regarding missing/wrong photographs in the packs received recently. We therefore urge you to check your order, if you have not already done so, and advise us of any similar mistakes as soon as possible to enable us have any further errors rectified without further delay.
Christmas Meal
Please ensure that any outstanding orders for Christmas Meal on Tuesday, 18th December are handed in to the office by Wednesday 5th December. We regret that no further orders can be taken after this date. As you can appreciate, there is a huge demand for this festive lunch and Geraldine has to place orders with her suppliers well in advance. Your co-operation would be appreciated.

Green Team News 1
As you may have noticed the Green team committee has had a great time planting the tubs in front of the school. More tubs will be filled by groups of children who may not be on the committee but who showed an interest in our Green Team activities.
Our committee has also been busy thinking about other ways to improve the outside environment with suggestions such as encouraging the wildlife by putting up bird feeders. We would also like to work in the wildlife area to develop and manage the great space we are fortunate to enjoy. Work has already begun with the strimming of the area but we want to do more. Are there any volunteers who enjoy the fresh air and can spare some time after the Christmas indulgences on the weekend of 5th January 10.30am – 2.00pm to work on our wild life area? Soup and rolls will be provided to keep us warm! If you would like to help, please contact Sue Wainman in the Reception Class.
Year 1 Production
In order to satisfy Health and Safety regulations we are limited to the number of people we can have in the hall which is why we have had to limit the number of tickets. We want to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone but we obviously have to have a regard for safety, so we must ask that ticket holders only attend performances and that tickets are shown on the day. We will be recording the dress rehearsal performance and copies of the DVD priced £5.00 will be available to buy in time for Christmas, so please do not bring video recorders – thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.
Christmas Card Post Box
The Christmas Card Post Box will be in the hall next week ready for children to post their cards. Children can bring in their cards from Monday. It is extremely important that children write the name in full together with the appropriate class name e.g. John Smith 2D. Everyday the older children sort the cards and deliver them to classes. The box will remain in the hall until the end of term.

Mid-day assistants needed
We currently have vacancies for Mid-Day Assistants in school. If you are interested in joining our team please call at the office for further information. The hours of work are 12 noon – 1.15pm Monday to Friday.
New Recycling Bin
There is now a clothing recycling container situated on the edge of the rear car park which can be accessed during school hours. If you have any items please place clothes and shoes (tied together in pairs) in separate carrier bags and drop them in. We have already received a cheque for £52.50 for school funds following the first collection. Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Mr S Taylor
