Dear Parents/Guardians

Merry Christmas

The first term has flown by and what an exciting time it has been here at St. Mary’s. We introduced the Integrated Curriculum approach to our teaching and learning which has seen children throughout the school enjoying various themes, including; Gruesome and Grizzly – Year 2, From Beatles to Brit Pop – Y6, Magic and Mayhem – Y4, etc... A big thank you needs to go to all the teachers who have been working extremely hard to be creative with the curriculum, to make it more exciting for our children.

We also saw the lovely KS1 Nativity ‘The Grumpy Sheep’; ‘The Harvest Assembly’ and the ‘Carols by Candlelight’ in Church.  We thank all those parents for their support of these events.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

                                          Governor Elections

We received four nominations for the two vacancies.  We will be holding a ballot in the New Year.

Christmas Lunch

Christmas Dinner yesterday was a huge success and pleasure.  The turkeys (all ten of them) cooked to perfection and the brussels sprouts remained ‘green and crisp and even’!  A great big thank you to everyone who helped make the lunch run so smoothly (and fun).  Mr Baker, Mr Taylor, the MDA’s and teachers, Margaret in the office, three extremely enthusiastic governors, the Year 6 helpers and mostly Maxine and my great catering team who worked so tirelessly, enthusiastically and efficiently.  I think I’ll have goose this Christmas.  Wishing you all a lovely and filling Christmas.

Carol Singing

Year 5 and 6 children from the school choir sang beautifully once again this year at St Dominic’s and Abbeyfield Convalescent homes.  Their enthusiasm and joyous singing brought smiles to all of the residents.  Thank you to the parents who gave up their afternoon to support this event.
