PE - Activities for All
Here at St. Mary's we aim to provide many opportunities for PE and Sport after school for the majority of pupils. We try to ensure that all children know what activities are available each term (there is a copy of the Autumn Timetable on the Extra-Curricular Activities page).
Having FUN is a very important factor in all our clubs!
Some of these activities are free and some incur a charge due to outside coaches.
Our expectations of children's behaviour during these extra-curricular clubs is
extremly high.
Any queries about PE and School Sport please speak to Mr Taylor.

Football Fixtures 2009-10
Thurstable Football Tournament
For the first time ever two Kelvedon teams built up of Years 4, 5 and 6 children participated in the ‘Colchester-Blackwater Partnership Tournament’ at Thurstable Sports College (Kelvedon A and B).
Kelvedon ‘A’ quickly progressed to the semi-final by winning all their group games; playing some extremely technical football and looking dominant throughout.
Kelvedon ‘B’ also played extremely well winning 3 matches and drawing 2 resulting in them progressing to the semi-finals.
Purely through coincidence the semi-final saw Kelvedon ‘A’ come up against Kelvedon ‘B’. Both teams hadn’t conceded throughout the tournament and after a closely fought match it ended unsurprisingly 0-0. A penalty shootout decided the tie with Kelvedon ‘A’ progressing through to the final 3-2. However, the teams came together at the end to wish each other luck in the next matches; the final and 3rd/4th playoff.
Kelvedon ‘B’ won their match very convincingly 3-0 to earn ‘Third place’ in the tournament and being the only team not to concede in open play during the tournament.
Kelvedon ‘A’ met a talented St. Luke’s ‘A’ and managed to win the game 2-1 with both goals coming from Michael Whittle.

Thurstable Football Finals Tournament
Kelvedon School Football Team went to participate in the ‘Colchester-Blackwater Partnership Football Finals’ at Thurstable Sports College having qualified by winning the tournament three weeks ago.
Kelvedon found this tournament of 13 teams tough and after dominating the first game against St. Andrews Junior School but not scoring the team had an uphill task in the next match. Stanway Fiveways, the eventual winners, played extremely well and convincingly won the game. Kelvedon, although disappointed, pulled together to focus on their final match. Kelvedon played the runner up of another group (school not known) and won this match 2-0 through goals from Joe Stevens and Michael Whittle to end the tournament = 5th.
Group C
Kelvedon 0 v St. Andrews 0
Kelvedon 0 v Stanway 3
5th/7th Playoff – Kelvedon A 2 v a school 0
Overall = 5th
Kelvedon Team: James Odell, Tom Gee, Sam Docherty, Oliver Johnson, Michael Whittle (Captain), Harry Doubleday and Joe Stevens.
MOT Kelvedon: Harry Doubleday – who played the most consistent throughout the tournament; battling hard in midfield.
