Welcome to Kelvedon St Mary's Primary School

Information on the P.T.F.A

Parent, Teachers and Friends Association

At St Mary's we are privileged to have a committed P.T.F.A. who work tirelessly to raise much needed funds through a variety of events. These include major events like the ever popular Fireworks Display,

Summer Fete and Christmas Bazaar, as well as social events like a wine tasting evening and quiz nights to name but a few. They also cater for the children's needs, organising infant and junior discos plus fun activities such as ice and roller-skating events and this year the children took part in a pancake race.

The P.T.F.A. provide the funds for a coach allowing over thirty children to visit the County Library every term to re-stock the school library thus ensuring that the children have access to a constantly changing supply of books.

They have in the past provided computers, sports equipment, music equipment, numeracy aids and a range of playground equipment. Their most recent donation to the school was a train for the infant playground.

A number of parents have said that they would not mind helping out on the PTFA but don't have the time to organise any events or take up a position within the association.  If this is you then please volunteer, as we are always looking for helpers with just a couple of hours to spare to help out with the disco's or setting up the fete etc.

SEPTEMBER 2007

PTFA Raises over £20,000!

During the last school year the PTFA raised a fantastic £20,200!  We would like to thank children, parents, staff and local businesses for their generosity.  Here is a reminder of some of our events and the profits they made:  Fireworks Display £3,700; Inflatables Day £2,000, Easter Eggstravaganza £1,700; Children's Events (termly Discos, Pancake Races and Christmas Fayre) £1,800; Adult Events (Retro Disco, Kwiz, Fashion Show and Norwich Shopping) £1,600.

How we spent the money

Last year the PTFA made contributions to the school totalling £8,600.  The money was spent on two Art Weeks, a donation towards the Friendship Benches, an Interactive Whiteboard for Reception, Maths and Phonics Resources, Library Books, Staging and Microphones, as well as play equipment, ice pops on Sports Day, and regular coach trips to County Library.  The balance, which is busy earning interest, will be put towards our project for this coming year.

So what's next?

Already this term £1,400 has been spent on equipment for Golden Time, and £1,300 on teaching laptops.  We have made pledges of £600 to Reception and £2,000 to replace the worn-out wooden houses in the infant playground.
Our fundraising focus this year is the development of the play and sports areas for our junior children.  As always, we are counting on your continued support to help us raise the considerable funds needed for this key area
